I'll Reach You - Chapter 1.5

The ride to the bar felt longer than it actually took. I could seriously feel his eyes on the back of my head the whole ride there. I felt slightly self-conscious and cussed myself silently for wearing this overly revealing dress. Now if I was Ryan than it would be a totally different story.

Ryan… I can only hope that he doesn’t see me with Colby tonight. I haven’t a clue on how I would even explain it. What could I say? “OH hey Ryan! Oh uh this guy is just some random person my mom set me up with so don’t mind him I’m not at all interested in him.”
“Hey, are we just going to stand outside or are we actually going to go in?” Colby’s voice made me jump twisting my ankle the right way I fell right into his arms. Great.
“Uh, I’m sorry.” Embarrassed I blushed and straightened my dress out as I pulled myself out of his arms. Not the way I wanted to start off the evening.

Stale drinks and a faint hint of body odor filled my nose. Frowning I made my way to the bar in hopes of just drowning the night away quickly. Then again maybe it wasn’t a good thing to do that, it would make me a bit too vulnerable.

Turning around I was greeted to none other than Colby standing right behind me. Go figure that one, the man was like a lost puppy. My mom really knew how to pick them that’s for sure.
“Wanna dance after I get you something to drink?” His smile beamed brightly which just annoyed me even more. Sighing I shook my head slightly. There wasn’t any sign of Ryan or his friends anywhere so I may as well try and enjoy the night as much as it pains me to do so.

“Yeah Colby that sounds great.” Putting on the best fake smile I could manage he ordered us a drink and handed one to me. Sipping away at the drink I kept noticing the way he was looking at me. It was odd, and making me feel even more uncomfortable. Handing me another drink I attentively drank it without realizing it. What can I say the stuff is pretty dang good?

Grasping my hand he led me to the dance floor where everything just started falling into place. His hands lingered on my hips his eyes focused on something besides my face. Pulling me towards him our lips were almost brushing. Things started getting weird. I suddenly felt like I knew him.
Pulling away from the almost kiss I went straight for the bar and plopped onto one of the bar stools. My head began to swim with distant memories of high school. Why? Why on earth would I get that sudden feeling of knowing him from nowhere?

He sighed as he stood behind me as he placed one of his hands on my shoulder. This I was not okay at all by any circumstances, but the lucid drinks flowing through my system made me want it to be okay. Great just great. I had to get away and I had to do it quick. I didn’t really full on realize what a light weight I was. I mean seriously a couple of drinks and I’m like an air headed blonde.

I stumbled quickly from the barstool almost causing Colby to bash his head into the bar. Ha! That will teach him for trying to get me tipsy. Leaning against the back wall I watched as he strutted my way. I don’t like you; I don’t like you I kept yelling on the inside of my head pleading him to just leave me alone.

Placing one of his hands above mine he placed his lips upon mine. My body gave; I couldn’t fight him back in this state. Closing my eyes I could only hope that this would end soon.
“Do you remember me?” Colby whispered between our lips. “Do you remember the kiss we shared so long ago back in high school? You know the one under the bleachers.” His breath was hot on my face and I didn’t dare open my eyes because I knew for a fact he was staring at me.

RYAN's Point Of View:

I awoke to Michael yelling my name. So not the way I wanted to wake up after a long night of clubbing.

“Ryan seriously get your butt out of bed. We’re wanting to hit up Wylan’s tonight, and it’s way past opening dude!” I waved my hand at him to tell him to get the heck out of my room.

“Yea sure let me grab a quick shower and get dressed sheesh.” Stupidly Michael took a bow before closing my door. Sighing I grabbed my phone to see there weren’t any new messages. Frowning I shrugged. Maybe Lucy was still asleep.

Lazily I grabbed some clothes and made my way to the shower. Undressing I stepped under the luke warm spray wondering why on earth they wanted to go out again tonight. Michael had acted like he hadn’t been out in a while. Though he always acted like that, this right now was more annoying than ever.

After I felt like the grim from last night’s outing was gone I turned the shower off I dried off and got dressed. Running my hands through my damp brown hair I pulled it and combed it into the direction I wanted it to go. Surprisingly I didn’t have any bags under my grey eyes and felt overly refreshed. Odd.

Stepping into the living room Michael and Dillon were sprawled out on the couch watching TV with Marie and Melissa. Well that’s just peachy, mostly because there was no sign of Lucy. Clearing my throat they all jumped up from the couch looking a bit to startled than they should be. Frankly I didn’t even want to know what they were doing.
“So um hey everyone.” I half mumbled in annoyance.

“Uh hi Ryan.” Melissa twiddled her fingers at me. “So umm hmm, we couldn’t get a hold of Lucy, but I bet you she would be here if she would have answered. Like you know?” Okay so maybe Lucy’s friends were as dumb as fence posts.

“Let’s get going than shall we? Sorry you’re pretty much the third wheel tonight Ryan.” I shrugged making them think I really didn’t care, but in all reality I did. It was itching under my skin that something wasn’t right. Something was off, and I really didn’t like it.

Arriving at Wylan’s I decided to hand out side for a bit so I could get some fresh air. No offense to them or anything, but with everyone sitting there in the back seat sucking face really doesn’t do well for one’s breathing in a cramped car. Annoyed I folded my arms debating if I should just stay out here or go inside and drink the night away.

Well drinking the night away doesn’t sound too shabby right about now. Entering Wylan’s I was greeted to a sight that about knocked the wind out of me. Lucy. She was with someone else. Kissing someone else to be exact. I turned to leave, but something stopped me. That feeling that something wasn’t quite right flooded every single bone of my body.

Without thinking I turned around and made my way towards Lucy and her lip locking partner. Noticing the grimacing look on her face I snapped. Yanking his shoulder I punched him square in the face. Stunned he fell back into Lucy causing her to squeak. “What the heck man?” Rubbing his jaw he straightened up making his way towards me.

Grabbing ahold of his shirt I taunted him without fear. “You sure she wanted your filthy mouth all over her?” Anger sparked behind his eyes as he shoved me back.

“And just who the heck says you could step in?” Throwing his arms to the side he was pretty much asking for a beating. Shoving him to the ground I dug my fist into the side of his face, and just as I was about to go for another Lucy’s hand covered mine up stopping it in before it could connect.

“Ryan, that’s enough.” She said lightly in a calm soothing voice. Scowling from the floor the guy looked at Lucy than to me. “Go Colby. I never want to see you again.” Switching her calm voice for a more firm one she pointed to the door after helping me get up from the floor.

Sneering as he left as threw his hand in the air mumbling something under his breath.

“Thank you so much Ryan.” She threw herself into my arms in pure relief. Pulling away a few inches she gazed into my eyes on the verge of tears. Lightly I placed my hand on the side of her face wanting nothing more than to comfort her.

Wrapping her arms around my neck tighter she brought her lip to mine in one quick swift. It was like electricity coursing through my body the instant her lips connected with mine, even when they just hovered lightly above mine.

“Thank you.” Her lips moved against mine as she talked. “Really thank you.”

Running my hands through her hair I smiled. “You don’t have to thank me Lucy. I couldn’t let him touch you. You’re already too special to me.” She lightly smiled as I wrapped her up into another hug.
